Applications to low-dimensional cold atom systems

Description:

Recent years have shown fascinating convergences between many branches of physics and mathematics never experienced before. The exact methods of low dimensional quantum  systems have been crucial for promoting new research activities in emerging fields such as quantum phase transitions, cold atoms, entanglement, quantum computation, quantum information, and off-equilibrium quantum statistical systems. The concepts of "conformal invariance" and "quantum integrability" have grown dramatically since their first appearance in physics and have been now extended to many fields, disclosing new perspectives on strongly correlated systems.

This workshop will provide the opportunity to bring together experts working in a wide range of topics, including integrable field theories, effects of thermal phase fluctuations in new materials, exact correlations after a quantum quench, new measures of quantum entanglement, topological realization of quantum gates, and the connection between two-dimensional conformal filed theory and N=2 supersymmetric four-dimensional gauge field theories. Some of the participants are members of an international research network on the above topics.
