The development of devices that utilize quantum mechanical effects such as entanglement is expected to bring about a new technological revolution. Efficient quantum gates have already been realized in ion traps, and their utility has been demonstrated for control and measurement of three-qubit entangled states, efficient simulations of quantum magnets, and more. Optics based schemes, which have seen major recent progress, include circuit QED, linear optics quantum computation, and quantum optomechanical devices. Remarkable advances have also been achieved in the simulation of topological phases of matter and non-abelian gauge theories using cold atomic gases.
Quantum entanglement is a continuing source of inspiration and progress in physics and mathematics that cuts across traditional boundaries separating different disciplines. The study of entanglement in many-particle systems and its exploitation for implementing specific quantum protocols is an extremely active field of research. Of particular relevance are recent investigations of the scaling of entanglement with distance, entanglement measures from quantum quenches, and efforts to connect entanglement measures to observables. Important questions also pertain to the role of measurements and of the interaction with the environment in controlling the state of a quantum system.
This program is devoted to exchange of ideas between condensed matter, quantum optics, quantum chemistry, and quantum information. We would like to bring together researchers working toward experimental realization of quantum devices and experts in mathematical models such quantum spin chains with an interest in quantum entanglement.

Informal Workshop from July 03 to August 24 with main conference scheduled from August 14 to 18, 2017.
Students = R$400,00 Brazilian reais.
Postdocs/Professionals = R$800,00 Brazilian reais.
Registration fee: All the participants are expected to pay the registration fee. Members of the local community (institutions in Natal) are considered as free listeners and are exempt from paying the fee.
